Toyota: The Bad Press Keeps Coming
Two Cents - Your Two Cents!
It has now come to light that Toyota's top North American executive boasted of the compny saving $100 million by negotiating a limited recall for Toyota Camry and Lexus ES cars over a problem that could cause unintended acceleration. In an internal Toyota document used as part of a company presentation on its government relations, dated July 6, 2009, the phrase "Negotiated 'equipment' recall on Camry/ES re: [sudden acceleration], saved $100 million+ with no defect found" is among a bullet-pointed list of "wins."

Question: Will Toyota be able to rebound from the damage that has been done to their brand?

These are the same executives that caused the Banking and Housing collapse, JAIL TIME! and the golden parachute they were to receive should go the government to reduce the deficit.

Once again, it's all about the money and who cares about the safety for the people. All of the people involved should be fired.

Ultimately they will rebound, expect the CEO to resign, sales to drop and they will lay low for awhile, then
rebound with a "new line" of low priced cars.... Americans forget quickly and with a low price tag will forgive them also. The rest of the world might take longer, but it will happen.

There was an item in the press to the effect that State Farm Insurance had given Toyota some feedback in 2006 or '07 concerning causes of accidents that involved their cars.

On the other hand, the extreme scrutiny being laid on Toyota by our federal government is beginning to look like "piling on" for some other motive besides spotlighting a defect which evidently has caused statistically very few accidents here and worldwide.

As if Toyota is the only car company to ever have recalls, plzzzzzz!! It is to boost American made vehicles. They will rebound & be as good as ever. I own a Toyota Rav4 2007--have never had any problems. My daughter had 2001 Ford Focus when she started college yrs. ago & had 3 recalls on it. I love my Toyota !
