I think Sarah did a great job. She was straightforward with her answers, even after Gibson tried to make her say things that weren't accurate. I'm more and more impressed with Palin as I find out more about her. It looks like McCain made a great choice with her, not only for his VP, but for a future president of our country.
seriously?

She was scripted and clearly has no idea of the world beyond Alaska.... it's an abomination.

Give us all a break; she was evasive, lied outright about the "bridge to nowhere", and most disturbing, had no idea what the "Bush Doctine" is--only the single biggest foreign policy fiasco since the Bay of Pigs.
For those of you who want a more accurate picture of this so called pillar of virtue and political reform, read yesterday's front page story about the Governor---and her "First Dude", who apparently had a great deal more influence on the state's business than might be considered proper.
Wake up America, this woman is not qualified to be a hearbeat from the Oval Office!

Palins Interview

I missed most of it, but what was funny is on the news they had one of those experts that read people by body language, and she pointed out what questions Palin was comfortable with, and when he asked her questions she didnt know how to answer (or lied), she answered with a tightly closed fist. JMO is right, she knows nothings except for Alaska, and she did a bang up job there on taxes, left them in a defict, the trooper scandal, the firing of the Librarian scandal (reinstated after public outcry), bridge to nowhere, etc. I do hope Senator Biden seals the deal because he is out of the spot light right now, almost too quiet. I'm sure he will run circles around her.
She is a joke, Qualified in Foreign policy because "you can see Russia from Alaska"??, Low-rated comment [Show]

Don't dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard-- consider this:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

Oh really, you think she has access to information that Biden as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee and Obama as a member of same don't have?
By the way, your comments are almost word for word from another blog I read this morning; could this be part of an organized disinformation campaign?

I'm one of those sitting-on-the-fence voters that everyone is after. I don't vote by party line, I vote issues and candidates. I watched both the Democratic and Republican conventions. I've read every candidates' bigraphy or authobiography including Hilary's. I've checked out their websites. If McCain wanted a female on the ticket, the Republican Party had more experienced personnel on their rosters. I am suspect of McCain as this makes me seriously question his judgement. He didn't do his due diligence. The bottom line, my gut instinct, is that Palin scares me. Palin a heart beat away from the Presidency? No way, no how, no McCain (to quote Hilary.) Obama just got my vote.

I read in another blog that many thought Gibson bullied Palin. There was absolutely NOTHING bullying about him. There were some things that Palin kind of skirted around, but Gibson stayed on task until he got some kind of answer. The gun issue and abortion is pretty frightening. Yes, I agree that if we legislate too much gun control, the only ones with guns will be criminals. There is a place for hunting rifles and maybe even for target pistols, but semi-automatic assaults weapons? Come on! The only place they belong is in the armed forces. And, while I'm against abortion, I totally disagree with her reversing Roe v Wade. You cannot legislate personal decisions or morality.

Not to wander too far from the subject, but I'm wondering: What laws do we have that aren't based on "morality?" I can't think of one. So yes, we can and do legislate morality - always. Sometimes it's rather twisted, and often not enforced, but our entire system of laws is based on morality. The questions is "whose?"

I dont reversal will ever happen. It would be taking steps backwards in time for womans rights. Simply put, the govt does not have the right to dictate that. This comes from a womans who believes abortion is wrong even in rape and incest. Its her mindset that bothers me.

FDR turn this country into social and morality government.I do not think there is a turning point back. I am christian but keep the church out of the law makers speeches. Is this government going to dictate what we can eat and how much to control obesity too!
My point I do not see change in either canidate. Let's put a third box on the election ballot - None of the Above, go back and try a new selection.

If anyone has ever been to Alaska, they will know that it is an ENTIRELY different way of life up there. Palin may be geographically close to Russia, but she does not interact politically with Russia. I love Alaska, I believe it is truly God's country. And I am the first in line to have a woman in the White House. That said, she is inexperienced, she never answers a question directly, and a "bulldog with lipstick" is not an image of someone this country needs to try to regain it's global respect. This country needs to look beyond her presentation and listen intently to her answers. The debate with Biden will be very telling. I am a Hillary supporter who is voting for Obama.

I have to agree with you to a point. Originally, laws were based on morality. And that was good. And yes, they are totally skewed now. But when I talk about not being able to legislate morality, I'm talking about sexual morality. We might try to legislate it, but it doesn't work. Adultery might be illegal, but it still happens everywhere. We might try to legislate abortion, but the truth is, whether it's legal or not, women will find ways to get one. There may be more women who die, but they will still get one.

So based on what I've just explained, my statement stands: we cannot legislate morality.
My comment is.....

I completely agree on the narrower issues of adultery and abortion. I just raise and eyebrow when big, sweeping, global statements like "we can't legislate morality" are used (especially when they sound so GOOD), to defend a very narrow and specific issue. I would love to see ALL LAWS addressing abortion repealed - including the ones that force me to pay for it.

Anyone who spouts off about Palin,s experiance should look at Obama. He is a empty suit, has never done anything in the senate other than vote present. Can you people be so dumb that raising taxes in this fragile economy will severly hurt the U.S.. Perhaps this site is not the place to understand or learn about basics of economics. Keep your money in the market and I guarantee that the uncertanty of the election will continue to slam your portfolio. Please name one thing Obama has done (not a community organizer) to help this country. One piece of legislation, one foreign affairs victory or one qualification for the presidency. Change my a**. Palin is being crusified as is she were running for President. She's the VP candidate and I will place her experiance next to Obama's all day long. If you want to be patriotic and pay more in taxes, send money to the goverment. I'll just continue to support our troops and hope for their safe return. Wake up Oprah lovers...this is our country and we don't need a novice, teleprompter president.

It is amazing how many people just repeat the absurd comments the liberals are spreading about this woman without researching them. It is obvious, by the time and trouble they go through trying to put her down how afraid they are about her chances to make it on election day. I have done the research and the McCain/Palin ticket has my respect and my vote. She did well in the first interview and will do better Vs. Biden.

Terry,

I think you need to wake up. Do we need to regress as a Country any further? That seems to be all that Palin offers. Be honest--are you afraid of Obama's skin color? Open your eyes--it's 2008. The GOP has done nothing but make a huge mess bigger for the last 8 years. It is time for change--don't let your racial fears get the best of you--or all of us.

NoPalin,

Why would you bring in the Race Card? You don't know what color I am and I certainly did no bring up Obama's.
My comments are based on fact. Anyone can stand up and talk about change, but show me an example of how you've done it. Perhaps with his economic advisors from FNM and FRE? Maybe I can get a sweet-hart deal on my next home purchase like Obama. Surely I can recieve some great spiritual advice from Rev. Wright if the economy gets (as I said) worse. He may win, but he is not the best solution for the country. Change? Well with him in office, i suggest you hold on to every dime, nickle and penny. You'll need it!
