Obama's Historic Speech
Two Cents - Your Two Cents!

Signaling a historic first, Barack Obama accepted the nomination as the first African-American presidential candidate last night at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

Question: What did you think of his acceptance speech and how far do you think we have come since Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech 45 years ago?

I thought Obama's speech was stirring. Obviously, our race relations have come quite a way since the days of MLK. What isn't so obvious [to White America] is how far we still have to go. We still need to move beyond mere tolerance of our differences to embracing them.
Don't the tears say it all?

So many people in the audience at Mile High Stadium were so obviously moved while Obama was speaking that to me, there is no question that he embodies the hope of millions of Americans. This new generation doesn't see color the way the generations of the past viewed it. I say, 'hope' is closer to 'feel' than ever before.

Unity...Yes We Can...
I was so moved with Barack speech last night. It's was THEE family night for my family. The anticipation, wonderful speaker leading up the Barack WoW.
I cried because this movement is needed, past due and right on time. Barack touched on all the main issues facing a great deal of Americans today. This is not a race issue, it's about opportunity for All Americans .....
Jobs being sent over seas, rising fuel, education becoming unattainable to our kids and some adult seeking job changes, veterans living on the streets(no healthcare or rehab) and the list goes on.....

I will doing my part in hitting the street ,voter registration, driving a bus on election day is needed...

Thank you.....
High Hopes

First, let me say "we've come a long way, baby!" I'm not being a smart aleck by saying it that way - just being emphatic.
I almost missed Barack's speech last night, but I'm so glad I didn't. I was deeply moved. He hit all the right points.
If Barack Obama and Joe Biden can accomplish even one quarter of his list, America will be strongly on its way to becoming healed.
I pray that Obama wins the election this year. America will lose if he does not win.

I was moved by his acceptance speech and a few times felt really touched by his choice of words, phrase. I was most moved by references to the fact that we are each others' keeper "...I am my brothers' keeper..."
I feel despair over how far we have NOT come from King's speech 45 years ago; or rather how we have perhaps felt the move forward since then, but regrettably have faltered.
I am feeling hopeful again about our country!

Obama's Splendid Speech

I feel that Barack Obama delivered a SPLENDID speech as did his wife, Michelle Obama!

Barack Obama has made it apparent that he PROMISES to bring the changes to America that this great country of ours so desperately needs to improve upon and make it an even better country than it already is.

If Obama is elected as President of the United States (and I HOPE that he is), personally, I cannot wait until a healthcare program is implemented into place assuring that ALL Americans will receive healthcare whether they currently have any medical care or not.

This is just ONE of the PROMISES that Barack Obama made in his speech and, he sounded very convincing and very believable to me.

I support Barack Obama all the way to the White House and have very high hopes that he will be the next President of the United States!

I hope that all of those who have called him "an empty suit" listened to what he had to say. He was splendid and very specific about what he wants to accomplish -- and it's things that America desperately needs right now! I'm so excited about his prospects and will do what I can to help him get to the White House!

Alot of hype but NO substance.
And they bought it

In short - its scary that so many people can be swayed by a good orator. A pretty speach written by someone else does NOT a presidential candidate make. He speaks well, he charms the masses, his followers are devout. But his beliefs are not fully spelled out nor are his intentions. If this man is elected and a democratic majority is formed in the other branches - we will be in for a very long and expensive 4 years.

Still an empty suit. All talk and no experience. I checked his voting record as a junior Senator and his resume qualifies him as a social worker for his "community organizer" work but not even as a good Senator.
His judgment as shown by his voting record, friends, associations and mentor is dismally horrible.
Unless you are black or hate the Republicans to a point of blindness you could not possibly choose a worse candidate.
As for his judgment, if his choice of mentor, friends and associates is any indication...God help us
