Just days after she was introduced as the Republican vice presidential pick, Sarah Palin disclosed that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant. She said Bristol plans to keep the baby and marry the father. No matter how sympathetic voters are to her plight, or how much parents might believe it could happen to their daughters, this is not what McCain's camp wanted people to hear in the first 72 hours after introducing Palin.
Question: How will the news that Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant affect public opinion of the McCain-Palin ticket? |

John McCain has announced his running mate as Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. After months of McCain's criticism that Barack Obama is too young and inexperienced, he selects a partner who is even younger, and too many, even more inexperienced. CNN'S Jack Cafferty commented that she comes from Alaska, a state of "thirteen people and some caribou." That's too harsh though... on Alaska.
Question: Is this a desperate attempt to lure Hillary fans, even though Palin's politics are more conservative? Or is this beyond McCain's ticket, and in fact exactly what we need? Would she be fit to run this country in the event that McCain's health should fail?

Court officials in San Antonio have announced a pilot program where 50 of the district's most truant students will wear ankle monitors with GPS systems in them to try to deter the wayward students from skipping school. Many feel this will help authorities curb this problem, but others feel that this method is infringing on the rights of the students.
Question: Does using ankle monitor and GPS technology to keep kids in school infringe on their privacy after school hours? |
