Is the Government Going To Far with the Bailouts?
Your Two Cents!

After a few weeks of trying to stand tough in the face of demands for a wholesale rescue, Hank Paulson apparently couldn't take it anymore. So now we'll have the biggest bailout in history. The recent bailout, combined with the bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, will leave American taxpayers on the hook for half a trillion dollars.

Question: Is the federal government going too far with its willingness to bail banks and financial institutions out after years of toxic lending?

The Saggy-Baggy Pant Debate
Your Two Cents!

A law that landed a Florida teenager in jail for having sagging jeans that exposed his underwear is unconstitutional, a judge has decided. The 17-year-old spent a night in jail after police arrested him for exposing 4 inches of boxer shorts in Riviera Beach, south-east Florida. Town voters backed the law in March after supporters raised a petition. However, a circuit judge ruled that the law was unconstitutional based on "the limited facts" of the case. Carol Bickerstaff, defending teenager Julius Hart, had urged Judge Paul Moyle to throw out the law, saying: "Your honor, we now have the fashion police." Before making his ruling, Judge Moyle said: "We're not talking about exposure of buttocks. No. We're talking about someone who has on pants whose underwear are apparently visible to a police officer who then makes an arrest, and the basis is he's then held overnight."

Question: Do you think a town/city should be able to make/enforce a law the prohibits certain types of dress?

The Bail-out of AIG
Your Two Cents!

The Fed said late Tuesday that it was extending a two-year, $85 billion bridge loan to the troubled insurer in exchange for a stake in AIG that could reach 80%. AIG will have to pay back the loan in full by selling off some of its assets. AIG had been on the verge of collapse as it scrambled to raise cash in the aftermath of the subprime mortgage collapse and subsequent credit crunch. AIG shares plunged 45% Wednesday.

Question: After bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, do you thing bailing out AIG was the right thing for the federal government to do?
