Shipping Ripoff
written by Deceitfuil Practice hater, November 30, 2008
We only ordered the standard pair and got the $31 additional shipping on top of the other shipping. We're canceling the order, and filing a complaint of deceptive business practices. If the damn thing costs $50 then say it costs it, and charge actual shipping costs. I hate this deceptive crap. Hate it.

snuggie; not only a shipping rip off, the website is too hard to navigate, forcing me to phone them. Unaware that after a 20 minute, automated phone call, they try to "give " you a free gift card to target or walmart- after pressing "no" a dozen or so times, I finally placed the order. Now Im finding out my credit card bill may be higher than expected for shipping- Ill be looking for that. BIGGEST PROBLEM; THEY TRACKED MY CELL PHONE NUMBER AND CALLED ME A DOZEN OR SO TIMES, USING PEOPLE WHO CAN BARELY SPEAK ENGLISH- OFFERING ME ANOTHER FREE GIFT CARD- I SCREAMED AT THEM, BT THEY DONT EVEN UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE! DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR, BLOCK YOUR NUMBER!!!

Snuggi Blanket - unbelivable Shipping charges
written by J Rosa, December 08, 2008
I wished I checked out the web for complaints before I ordered the Snuggie Blanket. I wanted only the 1 snuggi blanket and the free one if you pay an additional $7.95 shipping charge. Then they ask you if you want another color. My order now has 3 Snuggis. I wasn't sure what I had ordered. There was no preview your order before you clicked on the order buton. I called the number and was told to wait 24 hours for the ordere to get into their system. Hmmm something strange about their ordering system. I called the company number the next day and I could not get anyone to answer. The number would ring and then a message came on that all lines were busy and they hung up on you. What ever happened to being put on hold until its your turn. I never got throught. I called my Credit Card company and cancelled my card. The charges didn't come through yet.
3 Snuggie's 1 at 19.95, the second at $14.95 and the 3rd at 14.95 with a shipping charge of $47.70. Total charge was $97.55. Outrageous.

I also just got ripped. Trying to cancel the order but per card company it's not yet charged on my card. Wanted 3 plus 3 free, charged for 6 plus shipping $215.10.No chance to alter the order as the site indicated; it says you can choose colors before confirming, yet when you click "next", you get a "Thank you for your order". No way to contact them via email; the phone line is constantly busy. Unreal.

RIPOFF!!!!!!!!
written by PattyM, December 10, 2008
I too fell for the scam! Wish I had come here first! Just like everyone else, I tried to call customer service right away when I saw the rediculous shipping charges. I wanted 2 (upgraded) and 2 free and got charged $47.70 for shipping. Tried calling, got either busy signal, message lines are all busy and a hang up or, a recording saying we are experiencing high volume calls due to the holidays please call at another time. I called my CC company (AmEx) to cancel the charge, they can't cancel it but told me when the charge comes through to call and they will dispute it. Hopefully that will work and I will get my money back. I can't figure out their math. According to the buy one get one for the shipping my total charges should have been $75.80. See below for what they charged me.....not sure how the 2 free are $24.95 instead of $15.90 (7.95 x 2).
8P8Snuggie - 2 Deluxe Burgundy 2 book lights2$29.95$59.90

written by Rob in Texas, December 12, 2008
I'm so sorry to hear of everyone's mail order torture. I am self employed also, and have been doing mail order now for 20 years, buying and selling. I say that for basis of what I think happened to you all -- just read on.
I received a spam email, like others. Thought of my wife, went to the site, checked it out, called the number, talked with someone immediately, and placed my order around 11-20-08?, for the green one with the free book light, buy-one-get-one-free of both. NO PROBLEMS. She was very sweet, spoke perfect English, even joked around with each other. It was $19.99 or so, with $15.86? shipping for all four items. I just received the two snuggies today (12-12-0smilies/cool.gif~~~ however, no book lights.?
Here is what I think happened to you all. I think I received one of the first LEGITIMATE emailings from the LEGITIMATE company involved with the snuggies. I think some overseas (China?) companies saw the massive shipping and decided they wanted our $$$$ too, and purchased bulk from the LEGIT company. So... they sent out mass emialings too, and I believe those are the copycats you are dealing with. (I have 10 snuggie emails with links to differnt site names in my delete box right now, and I clean it every other day!!!)
Anyway, here is the number to the company I dealt with, according to my bank statement: 800-566-2888 but it will probably be busy and you just have to keep trying because they are probably getting SLAMMED by pissed-off people, and understandably so. I just called it and it was busy. The total of my order taken from my bank was $35.85 for the two snuggies and the two book lights. Again, I have yet to receive the book lights but I beleive they are comming from China so I just have to wait and see if they ever arrive. (they are the same new Robotic book lights being sold all over Ebay) GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL. Please do not let this hinder you all from buying via mail order. Just be sure there is a phone number to call and call before you order IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS AT ALL, unless you can pay with a company like PayPal which will get your money back. I have had to do that on Ebay myself, but all mail order companies are not bad.
To the last post...It's the same company! Soooo glad I read these posts first!!
written by Not So Snuggily, December 12, 2008
Thanks for your post, Rob in Texas, and I wish all of what you said was true. However, I did not get an email I went to the website after seeing their television commercial...www.getsnuggie.com...had to reload the thing for about an hour until it finally loaded, anyway, I ordered 1 SET of 2 sage green and hit continue or whatever their button said and it showed $31.00 shipping!! After reading your post I compared the 1-800 number and it is their phone number. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! They state on the first page that you can select additional quantities and or colors on another page, ONLY AFTER YOU GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER, thankfully I caught the shipping charged before I did that and started searching for posts about their RIP OFF SHIPPING CHARGES!! Too bad, I was going to order snuggies for EVERYONE!!
FREE Snuggie pattern!!!
written by Nioma, December 13, 2008
I was reading all of your complaints....my grandaughter wants one for xmas....well i found a website with a free pattern...if you can sew a straight stitch on a sewing machine...then you can make one...going to the fabric store and buying fleece is much much cheaper. I found the website through yahoo search...go to www.yahoo.com, type in the bar...free snuggie pattern, (mine showed the 5th link down), it said....Free pattern - make your own cozy fleece Slanket, Snuggie or Snuglet...it is the tangledthread website...I found by going through yahoo is the only way I could get to the pattern...tried just putting in the website and couldn't come up with the free pattern....hope this helps all of you....Merry Christmas
Thanks for the warnings & free pattern!
written by Jen, December 14, 2008
Nioma thanks SO MUCH for that free pattern info - I found it and it seems easy enough - and after reading all the horror stories of ordering "real" snuggies (and the fact that they're out of stock anyway) I'll attempt to make them - I can buy 3 yards of cute fleece for less than they'd charge me for a snuggie! I appreciate that you took the time to list this info.
Thanks for the Pattern!

I actually trusted the link since I found it on amazon.com I thought it might be a legit company... now I'm beginning to wonder. I did see the product in a Walgreens store so I know it exists, I just can't believe what a piece of work company this is!!! Doubt I'll ever see the merchandise! smilies/angry.gif

Kee,

I used the e-mail contact ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) that you gave so I could inquire why I only got 1 snuggie and not the 2nd one I was supposed to receive also.

I got a response one hour later....

"We apologize about that we will be sending you a replacement order as soon as possible."

That was it, but at least they responded. Now we'll have to see how long it takes for the replacement to show up.
My totals are right
written by Seeing what Happens, December 18, 2008
People have been confused when ordering online. Once you agree to getting the second one for half price, you need to select ONE, not TWO. ONE is one order of two snuggies, plus shipping. TWO is two orders of two snuggies, plus shipping.
I ordered one "order of two", with the additional $5 for the pockets and thickness, and shipping.
My total is 29.95 for two snuggies
No charge for the lights.
15.90 for shipping. (double that, 31.80 for FOUR--that's where people are getting confused--I think you ordered two sets of two)
My grand total was $45.85.
I received a confirmation email and everything looks legit. The only unknown is they're probably not in stock, which I expected anyway. Now I'll see if/when I get them.

I waited on hold until the sent me to an operator, after an explanation that I was trying to cancel my snuggie order, the receptionist sighed, asked for my name and zip code. Typed a few times and said my order was canceled. Fingers crossed that this really worked! Good luck everyone and Merry Christmas.

Take legal action!
written by Ms. Lawyer, December 20, 2008
Okay, so if all this is true, whoever is doing it is committing a crime. Instead of blogging, have you reported it to the local authorities as the theft it is? Call your local police because the transaction takes place in your jurisdiction if you are being scammed at home. They can do the investigation into who it is who is stealing everyone's money and help facilitate federal charges. Nobody is allowed to scam you and steal your money in the name of "creative captitalism". Theft is theft, whether through an As Seen On TV ad or purse snatching.

I had the same experience - my two snuggies and lights were going to cost $91.00. I cancelled my CC and also finally got a person who cancelled the order. If you're going to make your own, the best thing is to go to Walmart and buy the 3.97 throws that are blanket stitched all around. I made one for my grandson using a heavier fleece and you can imagine how it frayed. I was covered with royal blue fleece. I zigzagged the edges but even then it will probably continue to shed. Those throws are ideal and are soft. They did not fray or shed and it was simple to make. I was able to make two for $12.00. I cut one for sleeves and then after making the sleeves used the curve at top of sleeve to cut slits on the blanket and attached the edge of sleeves to the open slits. I put on a zippered hoodie backwards to figure out the sleeve placement.

So,I just canceled. Here is the number posted above also by JME.It works, for sure::
1-800-271-7173
This number worked for me just fine, and I only waited for about two minutes for an operator to come online and cancel my order. DO NOT try these three numbers, unless you dont mind told to call back another time::
1 800 566-2888 or 1 800 709-8381 0r 1 800 663-8166
You CANNOT get your oder canceled with these numbers. Just the one I spoke of.

Received both Snuggies yesterday. Both had the lights included. Look good, no complaints. Too many people didn't understand the ordering process. Ordering 1 BOGO (buy one get one) gives you 2. Many people ordered 2, which gave them 4. That's why the shipping seemed so high.
I'd buy from them again. Everything was on the up and up with my order.
Walgreens

I found that the Walgreens near where I live sells snuggies and lots of as seen on tv stuff. Just an idea so you don't have to go through the hassle online. I also found the real snuggie customer service number is 1-800-566-2888.
Bed Bath and Beyond

Ive found these at Bed Bath & Beyond, but if you have a sewing machine, its easy,...Im making them for my 2 little ones (4 & 5) spent 10 on each fabric set, so total of 20 and 1 hour (if that of sewing time)...I just found a website with pattern if you really need it
You folks

You get mad about deceptive business practices even though they are pretty clear about things. Their commercial is easy enough to understand. The problem with this is that old people cannot use the durned computer, and they are the ones most worried about saving $.50 by turning the thermostat down. To the woman up above said the website is too hard to navigate: You are an idiot. On the website itself there is an order form right there, clear as day, where you can order it from. Sites like Amazon and Ebay are 1000x time complicated. If you can't figure sites that easy out, you need to get off the internet.
Buying a Snuggie Is Not a Warm, Fuzzy Experience
written by L. Lawrence Fisher, January 27, 2009
Upon reviewing the myriad, multiple complaints (perhaps numbering in the thousands by now) registered by other Internet purchasers of Snuggie blankets, I realize my own gripe is merely redundant (see for yourself by Googling "customer complaints Snuggie"). Basically what happened to me is what happened (pretty much word-for-word) to the first Complaints Board complainant whose story I read, which I copied and am pasting here now: "I went to the website and purchased a snuggie. It was supposed to be buy one get one free. Then they ask if you would like to upgrade to a more plush snuggie. When you say yes you end up buying 2 getting 2 free and instead of it costing you approx. $40.00 it ends up costing you almost $95.00. I called to have them correct this only to have them tell me that it was too soon for the order to be in the system that I would have to call back in 24 to 72 hours. That the order does not hit the system that soon. I asked well how can you email me an order # that is not in the system? I was told well that's not the true order # that we use. What a bunch of crap! I'm canceling my credit card. What a bunch of scam artists." I totally agree. What I did after my own third bowel-roiling phone call to Snuggie customer service (there's an oxymorom) was to promptly call American Express to dispute the charge. In their usual competent fashion, AE said they'd take care of it. Someone, though, ought to let ABC's Good Morning America, which touted the blanket in a Saturday morning segment that they're an unwitting accomplice to a shady cyberspace operator. Well, my bowels have quieted somewhat. The best thing I've learned this morning is to always Google a product BEFORE purchasing it on the Internet in order to benefit from other people's undfortunate experiences. Snuggie blankets are not a warm and cozy product -- well, the product itself might (or might not) be, but certainly not the unpleasant experience of purchasing one. Internet buyer beware! smilies/angry.gif

Snuggie Hater

My husband was scammed too!! He called to order 1 snuggie in early 11/2008. He asked the agent if he can have a different color for the free snuggie. Of course the agent says yes. The package didn't arrive until late 01/2009. They billed our account 71.70 bc the agent placed 2 separate orders. Not only that they signed us up with additional promotions items that we DID NOT request. So we had to call ALL over creation canceling these extra services. Total amount so far including the unwanted services, 163.60. We shipped ALL there S%#* back to them including the free items. We recieved a letter in the mail from the bank that our accout was compromised(credit card info was stolen). WHAT A MESS!!! I hate them. DO NOT ORDER!!!! smilies/angry.gif

Any idiot that actually bought one of these needs to check yourself. You should proably have to do some communitty service too just for thinking about buying one of these. Are Americans that dumb. Check the youtube video on what the f is a sunggie...lol

HA HA yall bunch of fools buying a snuggie I love it....You can put anything on TV and you idiots will buy it just like ya did on the 5 year arm on your house you over paid for and now can't afford....Snuggie should have done a site that lets everyone know where you live so we can pinpoint the problems in the US.

Lets face it we all should know better and use more discretion and caution when allowing some idiot access to our credit card & personal information. These companies use every trick in the trade (i.e. "Buy 1, Get 1 Free"; etc. you always pay for it in the S&H) I have had more trouble with reaching a "live" customer service representative in the past few years than ever. They don't want you to reach someone; they hope you will give up in frustration and pay for the extra product you accidentally ordered when you thought you were selecting the color or simply changed your mind. My favorite is when I am on hold and then get "accidentally" disconnected and have to call back only to be on hold for another 20 minutes. I, however, do not give up; I instead apologize ahead of time to the poor customer svc rep that does answer when I call back because he/she gets an ear full. It's a shame because companies that operate the way that Snuggie does give other reputable companies on the net a bad reputation. I know of plenty companies that do offer great products, provide necessary security measures, guarantee 100% refunds on any dissatisfaction of their products and provide 24-hour live customer service. My story was one of sending a gift to a family member or I would have gone to a local store to purchase one. I was just so angered to learn that after a week I could not track the item with FedEd for they had no record and then I could not get a hold of a customer svc rep to explain. This took 30 minutes of my time and shot my blood pressure up to the point of the decision to make a vow to NEVER order products online again unless from a known reputable company...QVC, Macy's, Tiffany's, etc.
