I'm sure there isn't a woman out there who doesn't have a piece of jewelry that was given to her by an ex-boyfriend or ex-husband or ex-something. In the midst of the break-ups, we tend to cling to these baubles (as in, you may be breaking my heart, but you WILL NOT take my jewelry!). However, as times goes on, most of these items nest quietly unused at the bottom of our jewelry boxes.

After hearing about Trish Walsh-Smith's YouTube video in which she rants about her pending divorce from Broadway theater magnate Philip Smith, I had to jump on the site and see it for myself. Wow - and to think I actually thought we had made strides in dashing the notion that women tend to be vindictive and prone to hysterics...
I actually found myself wincing as she flipped through her wedding album and took pot shots at family members, talked about her "mean stepdaughter", and in a particularly horrifying moment, dialed her husband's office where she started talking to his personal assistant about their sex life (or lack thereof).

In the midst of "the every morning chaos" at my house - getting myself ready, my son ready, breakfast eaten and out the door so that he is not late for school - there is one constant (besides the chaos) - the Today Show is always on in the background. My friends know that I can't get my day started without my "Matt Lauer fix"...
This morning there was a story about the new Vogue cover featuring LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen and the debate about whether or not it is perpetuating racial stereotypes or simply celebrating two beautiful individuals. |

Unless you live in a tree in the middle of the Amazon, you have no doubt heard about the nasty divorce battle between Paul McCartney and Heather Mills. I have grown very weary of Heather and her woe-is-me antics and on-air rants about how horribly she has been treated by McCartney, the press, the public, blah, blah, blah... So, as you can imagine, I was greatly relieved to hear that the situation was finally coming to an end this week, and we would be able to move on to someone else's drama.
However, after hearing about the details of the final hearing and settlement, I wonder if Heather will be able to use any of her newfound fortune to buy some class and grace. |

Last week, I wrote about JuicyCampus.com and posed the question of whether or not it was social networking for the college set or a venue for cyber-hate. As I was checking the news headlines this afternoon, I see where New Jersey prosecutors have subpeoned records from the site. Apparently, JuicyCampus may be violating the state's Consumer Fraud Act by suggesting that it doesn't allow offensive material but provides no enforcement of that rule. In addition, New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram points out that there is no way for users to report or dispute the material that is published on the site. The investigation into JuicyCampus stems from a student who came forward after being terrorized by posts on the site that included her home address. |
